Read More »Tweet The Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) has launched a new Supplier Diversity Initiative. The system’s 16 colleges are reaching out to minority-owned businesses letting them know about opportunities to supply goods and services. This new effort is part of KCTCS’s 2010-2016 Strategic Plan Goals to “reflect the diversity of the students and employees of our 16 colleges and the citizens of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.” The colleges are looking to work with businesses owned by women, ethnic minorities, individuals with disabilities, and veterans. Macy’s “The Workshop at Macy’s” is aimed at fostering and mentoring women- and minority-owned vendors, and was launched in 2011. It’s a four-and-a-half day intensive training course that accelerates business growth for companies poised for large-scale growth. The company announced it purchased a record-breaking $5.08 billion from minority-owned suppliers, and $1.06 billion from women-owned suppliers last year, a 34 percent increase from 2010.
