St. Louis ‘Billion Dollar Impact’ sees $275M in new MBE spending in first year

Tweet The St. Louis Minority Supplier Development Council is on its way to meeting an ambitious goal: to increase MBE spending by $1 billion and grow 2,000 new jobs in the region by July 1, 2014. Kentucky Community and Technical College System seeks Diverse Suppliers

Tweet The Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) has launched a new Supplier Diversity Initiative. The system’s 16 colleges are reaching out to minority-owned businesses letting them know about opportunities to supply goods and services. This new effort is part of KCTCS’s 2010-2016 Strategic Plan Goals to “reflect the diversity of the students and employees of our 16 colleges and the citizens of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.” The colleges are looking to work with businesses owned by women, ethnic minorities, individuals with disabilities, and veterans. Diversity Inc. Names Top 50 Companies for Diversity

Tweet Diversity Inc. a leading diversity management resource, has named its Top 50 Companies for Diversity in 2012. These are companies that show an increase in the following areas: CEO Commitment Human Capital Corporate and Organizational Communications Supplier Diversity The Top 10 companies are: PricewaterhouseCoopers Sodexo Kaiser Permanente AT&T Procter & Gamble Ernst & Young Kraft Foods Deloitte Prudential Financial Colgate-Palmolive You can read the entire Diversity Inc. List here. 587 companies participated in the 2012 survey, up 11 percent from the year before, according to the publication. The survey goes out to companies that have at least 1,000 employees. 5 minority- and women-owned vendors added to Macy’s minority business development program

Tweet Five minority and women-owned vendors were added to Macy’s department stores seller lineup through a new business development program. Macy’s “The Workshop at Macy’s” is aimed at fostering and mentoring women- and minority-owned vendors, and was launched in 2011. It’s a four-and-a-half day intensive training course that accelerates business growth for companies poised for large-scale growth. Ford sets new 2011 Supplier Diversity record

Tweet Ford Motor Company increased its diversity supplier spending by 34 percent in 2011. The company announced it purchased a record-breaking $5.08 billion from minority-owned suppliers, and $1.06 billion from women-owned suppliers last year, a 34 percent increase from 2010. For three years straight, Ford has surpassed its annual 10 percent minority diversity supplier sourcing goal, the company said. “Our commitment to minority suppliers remains a top priority,” said Tony Brown, Ford group vice president for Global Purchasing said in a news announcement from PRNewswire. “At Ford, we believe a diverse supply base provides an opportunity to gain a competitive advantage in a constantly changing multicultural global economy.” Ford credited part of that increase to its ongoing technology and innovation [...]
