Tweet Throughout my consulting career, I have been involved in countless Supplier Diversity initiatives, working with companies to develop programs from scratch, as well as enhance existing programs. In every project, the primary objective was to increase spend with diverse suppliers. However, the first problem I’ve often discovered is that the existing procurement processes and infrastructure aren’t adequate to support a high-performing supplier diversity program. Time and time again, the corporate procurement group doesn’t control enough of the company’s total spend to reach their desired level of volume with diverse suppliers. Cintas Corporation is probably best known as America’s largest uniform supplier. However, the company also provides entrance mats, restroom supplies, promotional products, first aid and safety products, fire protection services and document management services to approximately 800,000 businesses. As the Senior Director of Supplier Diversity and Sustainability since 2007, Pamela Coleman develops the strategy for both programs.
